This page exhibits Jim Brown's art work and pottery creations. Please click on the small picture to see full size 1. This is Jim's first clay creation. He made this pot in 2004 It is made of clay from the clay gathered from the Nisbet clay hole located on the east side of the Catawba River. One of the Catawba's gave Jim a ball of clay to make a pot using the coil method and a pot he did make! His artist mind took it a step further. This pot is decorated with leather made of clay and clay rawhide lace, looking as if he sewed the leather on the side. A decorative fringe to tie it all together on top with a feather. The size of this bowl is 4 in. tall x 7 in. wide Now that's a piece of ART! 2. Jim has giving this piece a realistic look. The spear has a flint napped look and the shaft has a real wooden design look. The lace looks like rawhide as well. 3. |
